The Mississippi Gaming Commission has confirmed to that Mississippi casinos will be allowed to reopen at 8am on May 21. Mississippi casinos were closed on March 16 due to the coronavirus.

According to WLOX News, right at the end of Governor Tate Reeves’s daily news conference last week, when asked about the reopening date, the Governor said, “If the gaming commission has released their decision, it is final and official.”

The Mississippi Gaming Commission sent out its official order Friday. The order included the guidelines all casinos must follow to reopen.

Several coast casinos have already been re-configuring their gaming floors, moving slot machines and table games to accommodate social distancing guidelines. Many casinos have also added hand sanitizer stations, plexiglass shields, and disinfecting wipes to casino floors. The Palace Casino announced that it will also suspend gaming every day between 3am and 8am to disinfect the casino.

Several hotels on the gulf coast are already re-opened following new Covid-19 protocols, including Margaritaville Resort and Family Entertainment Center in Biloxi.

If your social distancing routine has involved takeout, drive through, or Amazon deliveries to your front door, you may wondered — Is my food or box contaminated? What happens if the delivery worker is sick? Or the person who cooked the food?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention believes the 2019 novel coronavirus is spread primarily when healthy people come in close personal contact with a person who has COVID-19 who is coughing or sneezing. This is why social distancing is so important.

However, they haven’t ruled out the possibility that someone could get the virus from touching something that’s been contaminated and then touching their own mouth, nose or eyes. This is why you should always wash your hands.

How cautious should you be? Family medicine physician Neha Vyas, MD, sheds some light on what we do and don’t know so far about how the 2019 novel coronavirus lives on surfaces. She also explains what you can do to minimize your risk at home.

How long does the 2019 novel coronavirus live on surfaces?

A: A yet-to-be-published study conducted by scientists from the CDC, National Institutes of Health and other institutions suggests that the 2019 novel coronavirus can live for two to three days on plastic and stainless steel surfaces.

With that in mind, it’s a good idea to keep your home clean during this time. And if someone in your household is sick, it’s especially important to disinfect high-touch surfaces in your household every day. This includes doorknobs, handles, tables, countertops, keyboards and light switches.

The CDC recommends these tips for disinfecting surfaces in your home:

If a surface is dirty, clean it with soap and water first, then use a disinfectant.

Always wear disposable gloves.

Make sure you have good ventilation in the rooms where you are cleaning.

Use a diluted household bleach solution, or an alcohol-based solution with at least 70% alcohol. The Environmental Protection Agency has a list of cleaning products that meet its criteria for use against the 2019 novel coronavirus.

Follow instructions on the cleaning product’s label, and check to make sure it isn’t expired.

Wash your hands when you’re done.

Is my food safe?

A: The 2019 novel coronavirus causes respiratory illness, not foodborne illness — meaning it affects the lungs, not the digestive system. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, there’s currently no reason to believe that the virus has been spread via food or food packaging.

But officials still urge everyone to follow basic food safety guidelines that call for washing your hands before eating or preparing food, using clean utensils, and properly preparing and storing food. Restaurants and delivery services should also be following safe food preparation and handling practices.

What about that package that just arrived on my front door? Is it safe?

A: While that previously mentioned, not-yet-published study found that the virus can live for up to 24 hours on cardboard, the CDC asserts that chances are low that the virus spreads from packaging that’s shipped over a period of days at ambient temperatures.

Can the virus be spread through water?

A: There’s no evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread through drinking water or using pools or hot tubs, according to the CDC.

Can the virus live on my clothes?

A: Specific research hasn’t been done on how long this virus can survive on clothes, towels or other fabrics. That said, it is recommended to change and wash your clothes regularly — especially if you’ve just come back home from the grocery store or are still reporting to work every day.

The CDC recommends using the warmest appropriate water setting for your clothes and drying them completely.

If you’re caring for someone who’s sick, you can wash their clothes along with yours, but wear disposable gloves when you are doing the laundry and caring for them. It is recommended to wash your hands with soap and water as soon as you remove the gloves. It is also recommended to disinfect hampers and the knobs on your washer and dryer.

Is it on my skin?

A: Germs can live on different parts of your body, but the main concern here is your hands. Your hands are what’s most likely to come in contact with germy surfaces and then touch your face, which is a potential path of transmission for the virus. So, while no one is suggesting that anyone take a hiatus from showers, you don’t need to scrub down your whole body multiple times a day like you should your hands.

If you have purchased an annual membership pass to SeaWorld Entertainment parks, including Busch Gardens and Adventure Island, these passes will be honored and extended by SeaWorld Entertainment. As of now, SeaWorld Entertainment Parks Interim CEO Mark Swanson said during Friday’s earnings call that the company’s two parks in Texas could the first ones SeaWorld is looking to reopen. The two parks in Texas include SeaWorld San Antonio and Aquatica San Antonio.

“We still don’t have a timeline, and things could change,” Swanson said. “After Texas, our next most hopeful is in Florida.”

Florida has the most SeaWorld Entertainment parks with SeaWorld, Aquatica and Discovery Cove in Orlando, and Busch Gardens and Adventure Island in Tampa.

When asked about following Disney World and Universal Orlando, Swanson said that the company is taking guidance from the Re-Open Florida Task Force set up by Governor Ron DeSantis.

“Our number one priority is opening in a safe manner,” he said. “We want to open when it’s safe.”

Swanson said once the company gets the green light from the state, it could still be several weeks before the parks reopen.

Neither Disney nor Universal have announced reopening plans for their parks, but the Disney Springs shopping complex announced it would begin a phased reopening on May 20. Disney Springs Vice President Matt Simon made the announcement on the company’s blog Thursday. “Disney Springs will begin to reopen in a way that incorporates enhanced safety measures,” he wrote.

Those measures will include enhanced cleaning, face coverings for employees and guests, “limited-contact guest services” and more safety training. The company will also place new limits on capacity, parking and operating hours.

Rihanna and Jay-Z are showing their support by contributing to the efforts in fighting the coronavirus. Rihanna’s and Jay-Z’s foundations have donated $1 Million each to COVID-19 relief efforts in New York City and Los Angeles.

The funds from Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF) and Jay-Z’s Shawn Carter Foundation (SCF) will support undocumented workers, the incarcerated, homeless and elderly populations, and children of frontline healthcare workers in both cities during the pandemic. Funds will directly support organizations, including the ACLU, New York Immigration Coalition, Mayor’s Fund for L.A. and Fund for Public Schools. Funds will also go towards providing daycare, food and learning materials to healthcare workers and first responders’ children, and supporting the incarcerated, elderly and homeless populations in New York City and Los Angeles.

In a statement, Gloria Carter, Jay-Z’s mother and CEO of SCF stated “In times of crisis, it is imperative that we come together as one community to ensure that everyone, especially the most vulnerable, has access to critical needs: shelter, health, nutrition and education. The only way to get through this pandemic is with love and action.”

Last week, CLF announced $5 million in grants to on-the-ground partners working on the frontlines of the coronavirus response in the United States, Caribbean and in Africa.

We applaud Rihanna and Jay-Z for their continuous contributions to help people during this global pandemic.

According to LinkedIn’s research, 51 percent of companies have acquired B2C customers through LinkedIn. 

We believe LinkedIn is the ultimate connector. LinkedIn has proven to be the most efficient networking tool today. During our practice, we were surprised dozens of times with how responsive professionals are on LinkedIn.

By narrowing the filters through location, connections level, and current companies, you can easily find a group of people who you would like to connect with. In 2020, marketers should embrace LinkedIn into their toolbox.

We’re sharing with you our hottest LinkedIn tips!

TIP #1: IT’S ALL ABOUT THE NUMBERS
To succeed on LinkedIn, you need to develop an agile process. LinkedIn is a major social network with the ability to connect to almost everyone. As a result, you need to cast a wide enough net. On average, 100 relevant requests for connections will yield about 20 percent success. For B2B, where each lead could generate significant revenues, that may be enough. But for B2C, the same effort may vary wildly from 0.2 percent to 2 percent results (not unlike that of Facebook). During a campaign, determine your KPIs and measure accordingly. For example, if your KPI is awareness, measure followers. If your KPI is engagement, measure messages exchanged. If it is leads, measure conversations that lead off the platform into calls/meetings. Consider all these aspects to adjust your strategies and use LinkedIn’s maximum potential.

TIP #2: PERSONALIZE YOUR MESSAGES
LinkedIn is a social network that should be perceived as such. Which messages do you send on social media? Are they 2000-characters-long? Do your messages have a clear introduction and signature? Or are your messages short, quick, and straight-to-the-point? Your messages should be as personalized as possible. Messages should be no longer than three sentences. Most importantly, your messages should initiate dialogue. It is not about saying how great your company is with numerous texts. It is about building relationships and being an interesting person to talk to.

TIP #3: STAY AWAY FROM AUTOMATION
Automation seems to be LinkedIn’s #1 enemy. However, it takes a little time for it to be detected. That is why automation will accelerate your growth in the short term. On the other hand, all of your efforts in growing a precise, targeted network of professionals will be wasted because automation leads to suspensions and profile bans. We recommend staying away from automation and growing organically with your personal touch.

TIP #4: SENIOR LINKEDIN PROFILES PERFORM BETTER
According to our experience, working with impactful influencers and decision-maker profiles makes your networking efforts much more effective. People are more likely to accept requests and start a dialogue with experienced professionals. If you know senior professionals, we recommend connecting with them to help grow your network.

TIP #5: ALWAYS EVALUATE YOUR MARKETING CAMPAIGNS AT HALF-TIME
LinkedIn lead generation shows some results during the first few weeks of a campaign. However, these results are too insignificant to be noticed. Tangible results will be delivered in the second or even third month of a constantly improving campaign. If you evaluate your campaign too early, you may make decisions based on limited, uninformed data. Evaluate your campaign at the appropriate time.

TIP #6: REACH OUT
Grow your LinkedIn by using the tool “Invite Connections”. Remind members you are there and the value of connecting. If you don’t reach out, you can’t grow your network. Remember to personalize your message to the recipient to increase the chance they accept your invitation.

TIP #7: PERSONAL BRANDING. PERSONAL BRANDING. PERSONAL BRANDING.
If you have not done so already, focus on improving your personal brand. Similar to senior specialists, professionals with well-developed personal brands have much higher chances of attracting the attention of C-level executives. People with strong personal brands also generate more qualified leads and more sales. We recommend first spending time to determine what your personal brand is. What do you what to be known for? After you have determined what your personal brand is, then you need to communicate it creatively, consistently and organically online.

TIP #8: ALWAYS IMPROVE YOUR SALES TEAM
It does not matter how successful your lead generation is if you do not have an effective sales team to close the leads. We have seen dozens of campaigns that wasted hot leads because of their inability to pick them up properly. Before starting a campaign, make sure that you have the capacity for the most optimistic scenario. We recommend detailing your sales process from start to finish to ensure you can capitalize on leads generated.

TIP #9: DON’T STOP
The most common mistake people make with their LinkedIn network is stopping. Users will spend hours creating or enhancing their profile one day and then not log in again for a week. Other users will post content one day, and then wait until the next month to post again. We have also seen some users send out thousands of requests for connections, and then not respond to people when they reach out because they forget about it. Once you start, determine the right balance of time where you can be consistent to maximize your efforts. Whatever you do, don’t stop. You need to find a way to keep growing, posting and connecting on LinkedIn.
